Been doing a lot of preparation this weekend. We're very nearly ready for **FIXME Daffodil to turn up. In as much as we ever will be ready. Still not due for a week or so, but any time this month will officially be On Time, so you never know ( Read more... )

Have you read "Spies" by Michael Frayn? Privet, keep out!

Not read Spies but it's on my list of books-probably-worth-reading since I like Michael Frayn and it can't have been too awful if it won the Whitbread. What do you reckon?

It's an excellent book but I mentioned it mainly for the privet reference. Only book I can think of where privet plays a somewhat pivotal role.

Now that's what I call a recommendation! I'm sure there aren't many books where a hedging plant plays a ... privetal role.
