I know that I mentioned this on Facebook early last week, but they found a new species of freshwater crab in the Philippines

They definitely should make a nature preserve there. Although, honestly, I think the pet trade should be viewed as a possibility for preserving threatened species such as this. But only if they can breed in captivity - there's no way you can save a species if you're taking them from the wild to sell them, which is the case with hermit crabs.
