A lot of teenagers act like they're invincible. Nobody actually wants it to be that way. Most people wake up every day knowing somewhere in the back of their minds that it'll be over someday, that there's a light at the end of the tunnel where things won't be as complicated. Where it won't hurt. Where they can finally just rest.I don't get that ( Read more... )

At least you won't be alone.

If that's supposed to be reassuring, you missed the mark.

I think there should be something reassuring about having company in the long run, even if it's me. Even if all you intend on doing is killing me, that's still one more familiar face than you'd have otherwise.

You're the antithesis of reassuring. Familiar's only a good thing when it's someone you can stand.

... No way out, I take it? No magical cures for it?

Not unless you know how to cure my natural biology.

Haven't found a way to fix my own yet, so nope, no fuckin' luck.

You seriously can't die at all? Decapitation, taking your whole brain out of your skull - nothing?

Nothing. I'm like a cockroach, but prettier.

Do you know how it works at least? What's wrong with you, I mean.

There are people here who have a similar situation. You may live forever but, it doesn't have to be alone so long as you are here.

That doesn't keep it from looking bleak. Think of all the people in my life who won't. All of the people I'll get to watch grow old and die while I never can. While I get stuck with people like Sylar and Adam.

I know it's difficult to watch that sort of thing. Just because it's possible for you to outlive everyone doesn't necessarily mean that you will.

Life will always surprise you. Try not to dwell on it until you get there. It's best to take it in stride.

It's easy to say that when you're not the one who has to watch everyone getting killed around you. Getting killed when they try and protect you.

They're right, Claire, you're not alone in this.

With the company I get to keep, I kinda wish I was.

You learn to live with it, because you have no choice.

And that's fair how exactly? Why me? Why do I have to be the one who has to learn to live with watching everyone I care about die, knowing that it's never gonna be me.

traptinacoffin June 16 2011, 00:57:39 UTC
It isn't fair.

Yeah. I've had the life's not fair speech before. Elle made sure I got it pretty much every time I talked to her.
