If one more person on this stupid community forgets me, I swear I'm gonna explode. I mean, it shouldn't even matter, right? But, every time a new one piles on it's like another knife in my back and I feel like I can't breathe.

I've lost so much already, I can't lose the people here who matter to me too. [ She shuts her eyes and rubs them with ( Read more... )

If it's any consolation, I agree. From both sides of the equation. The memory ones are the worst.

The only real way to deal with it is to remember they'll be back to normal in a few days. From experience, trying to convince them it's a virus is usually pretty pointless.

I'm not talking about viruses. I'm talking about people leaving and coming back and not remembering any of it. Or any of us. The virus just happens to have the unfortunate timing of coinciding with all of that. So, what do you do when it's not just some virus that turns everybody into either a grandma or a kid?

Ah. Less experience with that one.

I guess all you can do is start again. I mean, even if they don't have the memories, they're still the same person - whatever kept you together as friends will still be there where it counts, right? Not that I'm saying it'd be easy, but at least they're still around.

...That hasn't happened to me yet. I don't think I'd take it well, either.

You'd think after all the times it's happened to me in my life, I'd just ... not care. Or at least be used to it. But, every time it's worse than the last and I just --

[ fffuuu huff of sadness. ] I don't think I can take it happening to anybody else, you know? It's like way beyond the breaking point already.

If you reach a point of not caring when the same thing keeps happening to you, I'd love to know your trick, because I could use it. We don't get to decide about it.

It'll probably keep happening just because it's so aggravating.

... Is that supposed to be your idea of being comforting? It could use some work. You know, usually it comes equipped with like "I promise I won't forget you," or "I'm here if you need me." You know. Comfort?
