[Good afternoon, ducks. The first part of this message is comprised of an image, a simple blue background covered in a barely-legible scrawl, along with a few small scribbled drawings for emphasis here and there. The whole thing is covered in equation after equation, and - if you've a background in that sort of thing - appears to deal with the ( Read more... )

I'm not exactly how it works in my case, but it does. Someone modified my car to make it a worldhop. He used magic.

I'd rather not resort to magic if at all possible. [For one thing, he doesn't trust magic, and for another, he's doing this more as a personal challenge than because he wants to worldhop.]

Why not? [Her girlfriend and future waifu is a witch :'D.] It can be pretty helpful.

Well, I mean. It's magic. There's no explanation for it. It's magic.

Stupid humans. THAT'S WRONG!

Divide by six.

[Yes, yes, he gets it. You're superior, advanced, etc.]

Divide by six on which equation?

The middle one!

[And he'll just take a few moments to check and...]

That doesn't make any sense.

I seem to recall another member attempting to do something similar to this. Unfortunately, I do not have any of their findings available at this time. From what I have heard, however, trans-dimensional coordinates are deceptively simple when taking the community into consideration.

Aye, I'd wondered about that. What effect the community itself might have, I mean. Considering its aptitude for taking over computers and other devices, especially.

Though that's not exactly a comforting thought.

From the code I've been able to safely recover, I have not yet seen any indication of malice in the community's programming. Admittedly, I do give it a wide berth, as I would rather not be disconnected for attempting to look too deeply, but it is simply a program. If anything, with your knowledge, it may provide a helpful tool in defining your worldhopping parameters.

Now that you mention it, I had meant to see if I could find anything regarding the means the community uses to access the worlds that it does. If there's a weak point in the time-space continuum, then targeting it as the gateway to other worlds might prove effective.

What if you attempt to route the transporter through the community directly?

I'm not sure that's a wise idea. We use the transporters on a fairly regular basis, and if the community had access to them, we'd be risking the chance of it pulling us wherever it wanted. Even then, there's no guarantee that it won't do that already, and how do we know we're transporting where we want to, and not where the community wants?

Well of course there would have to be failsafes! I suppose I was just remembering an emergency attempt... but perhaps you could try to take a look at how the community's programming does it? You might be able to find inspiration!

Aye, I've considered taking a peek at the community's programming - there's got to be something it's using in order to connect all these different realities together. Weak points in space-time, maybe.

Of course, the problem with weak points in space-time is that pushing through them generally tends to weaken them further, and I'd rather not be responsible for tearing the universe apart.
