Can someone tell me what this site is for, please? I wanted to figure it out for myself, but the stuff some people were saying was kind of...weird and not really clear.
[the wary look intensifies to a mild glare, and his bottom lip sticks out slightly.] What, that I should waste my time playing pointless video games and sports when I could be doing something useful? I think I'll stick with the studying, thanks.
Right... Yeah, you said something about that before, huh? [not that he'd paid much attention at the time, considering all the other impossible nonsense and seeming lies Mr. Marquise had been telling him.]
[Miles drops his gaze, running the thought through his mind over and over. finally a soft smile spreads across his lips.] I'm not surprised or anything. I already knew that's what I'd be.
[his cheeks color, and he finally looks up and gives his companion a shy smile.] That must be because I learned from the best.
[looks at the door with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.] You haven't met my father, huh? He's the best lawyer in the city. All the other defense attorneys respect him, and the prosecutors must hate him, he beats them so often!
[his enthusiasm is growing with every word, his smile widening and his eyes bright. it's clear the prospect of meeting aliens has suddenly taken a back seat.]
[stops dead in his tracks and stares at the man, completely ignoring his offered hand.] I can't be a prosecutor. I'm gonna be a defense attorney!
[a moment's pause, then almost as an afterthought] And I can't have any sisters or brothers, either. I don't have a mother anymore, it's just me and my father.
[he frowns to himself, dropping his gaze to the ground for a long moment. eventually he meets his companion's gaze again, his face set with all the determination a strong-willed boy can muster.] Mr. Marquise, you must be mistaken. I'm never going to be a prosecutor. I've always wanted to be a defense attorney, like my father. I want to help people and that's what I'm going to do. I don't know who you've mistaken me for, but he's not me.

[Bemused. There's no point in arguing, since he'll probably be back to normal soon in a few days regardless. But it's interesting that he's so dead-set against it.]

[He pauses, touches a door, and then nods.] And I think this is the right one...

[He tugs the door open to reveal the blackness beyond, and holds his hand out to Edgeworth]
