[The video opens on a beach. Yellow sand stretches for miles on end, and a large, simple structure made out of what looks to be the same material stands in the background, right on the edge of the sea. The waves can be heard calmly crashing on the shore, and the wind through the grasses on the dunes sounded calm and peaceful. Stars hang in the sky ( Read more... )

Ah, I see you are a man of many languages as well my dear Jack. Do the mysteries ever cease?

Well, no fear of that stopping anytime soon! I have a hard time placing you, Jack, and I think you like it that way.

... Eikthali. I didn't know you spoke Eikthali, Jack.

Doctor, I grew up speaking Boesheiv. Of course I speak Eikthali. The only poetry or songs in Boesheiv are drinking songs. We needed some form of class on our little backwater planet.

Honestly, I didn't even remember this, before it posted. It's been so long...

Right, yeah, point. But in my defence by the time you get to the 51st century you lot are speaking so many languages and creoles and dialects that it's difficult for me to keep track of who speaks what.

I can imagine. How old were you then?

Hah, well, yeah. I suppose I will give you that. You're lucky you have the TARDIS technology working for you to translate things. Boeshane was poor--we didn't get fancy stuff like that. And the Agency was stingy--worked on a needs only basis. How else do you think I learned 21st Century English other than studying it? I'm surprisingly good at talking, you know?

Oh. God. I have no idea. It was so long ago--I have no idea what I was in cycles at that time, let alone a more universally understood span of time. Maybe. Well, if Gray's at 8 cycles, that would make me...17, 18 or so, so...10 or 11 in Earth years? Not too old for Dad to tell me stories. Before I was forced to grow up, really. Take a good look, Doctor, that's probably the most innocent you'll ever see me.

I can't say I recognize the language. Was that little kid you, Jack?

That's because no one speaks it around now. Not here, anyway.

Well, the one was. The other one was my little brother, Gray.

Hey there, Jack!

Childhood home? I thought you didn't talk about that sort of stuff.

Not usually. The community kinda decided this one for me, though, so. Might as well show off its best features. As much as I can remember, anyway.

Well, look on the bright side. This was another one of those virus things. If you haven't been hit by now, you've been spared this time around.

Honestly, I'm not that bothered by it. At least it picked a nice memory to show people. Even if it kind of the biggest invasion of my privacy that's happened in a while.
