Unsatisfactory Transaction - what would YOU do?

OK - I need some advice. I know I haven’t been all that active on LJ recently, but I was away, and before that, preparing to be away, and busy, busy, busy…. You know how it is. But I can’t think of a better place to pose these questions than among my LJ Friends.

A new doll (new to me) arrived while I was on vacation. I picked her up yesterday and ( Read more... )

First I would be pretty dang pissed off. My ex blue Roko had horrible sales photos and came with undisclosed yellowing and marbling. I paid through the nose for her. She was also supposed to come with a wig. The wig never showed up and never came after the fact though the seller swears she shipped it. I ended up losing money on the girl when I sold her as well. Now I see a fullset roko in better condition selling for less than I paid. *grumpy pants ( ... )

I am fairly certain the damage isn't that extensive. There are no visible scratches or dents that I can see - just the absence of cheek color and a small scrape to the eyebrow paint. If I had planned on re-doing her faceup anyway, I would have had no issues with the way she arrived. But I really like the factory faceup, and it's perfect for my character.

I would not be averse to leaving her neutral feedback and a clear statement about why. I am having a hard time believing she is so inexperienced that she didn't notice the faceup rubs as she packaged up the doll. And it's not MY fault that she paid so much more for the doll because she happened to get it before the company reduced their prices. We all lost a bit when they did that - that's all part of the collecting thing.

I am fortunate, I suppose, that this is the first time I've ever had such an issue. Having puchased so many dolls second-hand over the past three years, that's a really good record! But like I said, I hate conflict. I hate feeling badly about someone and having them return the ill feelings. I probably need to weigh which will bug me more - those potential bad feelings or the feeling that I have enabled someone to get away with shoddy selling practices.

Also there is a community on LJ called bad dolly deals where you can post about the transaction if it does not come to a positive solution. here

Thanks - I am a very careful buyer usually, but I guess all sorts of things can happen.

I thought it wise to consult with people I know before emailing her back again. I dread the thought of it, actually, but I suppose it should be done.
