He froze, horrified mostly from being caught in flagrante, but also by the expression on her face. She seemed shocked, to be sure, but he almost thought there was more to it than that. Though his own embarrassment kept him from analyzing too carefully.
He shook Mark's shoulder before sitting up and pulling the sheets up to his chest. "Good morning, honey," he managed to get out.

"Good mor-" he began, then caught sight of Maureen and stopped for a second.
"...-ning?"

"I guess I should have knocked," she finally said. And her voice was pretty neutral as she looked at Prior and said, "Good morning to you too, honey. Fancy meeting you here."

"Surprise?" he offered weakly. "I guess this saves me the trouble of finding you to tell you the news today."
