I don't want Asami to be evil either. She seems like a nice girl and her dad (voiced by Daniel Dae Kim, who played Gavin on Angel, incidentally) is awesome. But yeah, I ship Korra/Mako, so this needs to stop, even though it's cute. I see Korra is already jealous. :D

I loved the bit at the gala where Meelo zipped off and then Tenzin freaked out because apparently he was using a punch bowl or a potted plant or something as a toilet. Hee, I hope the antics of Tenzin's family are in every episode. Tenzin's wife's glare after he let the slimy councilman join them for dinner was great too, as was Ikki's "precociousness". Heh.

That vision Korra had of Sokka, Toph, and Aang all grown up was SO AWESOME. I cannot wait for more of that.

This show continues to be crazy awesome. Looking forward to the pro-bending championship next week.

For some reason, even though I saw the episode and remember everything, I missed the part where Korra had a vision of Sokka, Toph, and Aang. Whereabouts did that happen in the episode? o.O I didn't move away or anything, but I swear I missed it entirely.

It was near the end, right after Amon whacked Korra in the neck and knocked her out. The vision only lasted about five seconds, but we saw Sokka, then Toph in her police garb, and Aang. Then it showed Aang moving in to fight someone, probably that Yukone guy the sleazy councilman mentioned earlier in the episode. Then Korra came to and mistook Tenzin for Aang.

I wonder if the Yukone and the vision are linked. Sounds like one of those little details that ends up being really important later on.

Hey there I just came across this. I love your review of the episode and I agree completely.

Also I'm a Makorra shipper but I like the introduction of Asami as a love interest? I know right now it's only physical but we are learning more about Mako and seeing how he isn't just some angst teenager. Plus fans should see how relationships in the Avatar world aren't guaranteed to last. (Look at how many love interests Katara had before they settled on Aang. Bryke knows how to do character development.)

Ending this on: Yessss the Tenzin/Meelo scene wa shilarious! I want more of their family's antics lol. So many characters to love on this show.

I agree about Asami. I like her and I like her and Mako together; I just want Makorra in the end. It is giving us a new look at Mako, one apart from his brooding and protective persona. I didn't know he could be so adorably clumsy, for instance. And as you said, relationships in the Avatar'verse are not guaranteed to last.

I love Tenzin's family. They're really funny and hopefully they'll be in every episode.

On a slightly random note, I love your icon. Oh Sokka.

Oh gosh, I love love triangles. Ep was awesome. xD

Mako/Asami... I think it will reveal more about Mako and his past the more we see of them, plus his clumsiness and blushing were adorable and I wonder how Korra will handle it since she's been pulled away from their practices this past episode. Mako dating this girl is sort of an in-your-face thing from where Korra's standing. She'll be forced to come to terms with it.

The thing about Asami that caught my attention was how she and her father popped up at that party and how he agreed so easily to fund their team, also that car that was sent to Korra as a bribe. I have to wonder if all these things aren't just coincidence. Asami's an interesting character, I think that if she and her dad are somehow involved with Ponytail Guy's plans, that could bring a twist to both their relationship and the team. Whatever happens though, it's gonna be pretty tense.

Korra's going to be very jealous. The team's going to have to deal with a lot of tension over this.

I figured that they were at the party because they're wealthy elites and thus Ponytail Guy would've invited them. As for funding their team, Asami's a big fan and she must've convinced her father. And the car - I shrugged it off as Ponytail Guy being rich and able to afford a car. Hmm, it never occured to me that they might be involved with Ponytail Guy's plans... It's very intriguing.

I prefer this theory to Asami and her father being involved with the Equalists. Being rich, I can't see the Sato family wanting to upset the status quo by supporting a revolution. But helping out in whatever Ponytail Man's big plans are? Yep I can definitely see it.

My brother and I think... ext_1186689 April 30 2012, 15:51:16 UTC
Well after the first two episodes came out, my younger brother thought that Amon was the Firelord. I said that would be both awesome and possible if it was still during Aang's lifetime. So after seeing episode 4 my brother still had some kinda feeling towards Amon being the Firelord, or at the least connected to him in some way. And I could see why, with the way he is using a technique to take away bending ( ... )

I've considered that Amon might be Ozai, but it seems unlikely. Ozai was a firebending elitist though perhaps the years without bending could have turned him vengeful and angry against all other benders, an "if I can't bend, no one can" outlook. However, I think that Amon is a new character, unconnected to anyone in the original (or perhaps a child). LoK, although in the same world and definitely affected by the legacy of the first series, is its own series and I think Amon is its own villain ( ... )
