I haven't bought a Transformers comic in ages. All Hail Megatron all but killed my interest in the IDW continuity, and both Last Stand of the Wreckers and the first issue of the ongoing series left bad tastes in my mouth. I'd reached the conclusion that, like Spider-Man before it, Transformers had become a comic book I enjoyed in the past-tense.
Then the fandom started a petition. Buoyed by the release and success of Larry Hama's return to GI Joe, they called for the resumption of the original Marvel Comics canon - the 80 issues (and 300-plus UK books) that, to my mind, define everything that's good about Transformers. I signed the petition and promptly forgot about it, figuring IDW's track record of arrogance would work against the hopes of old-school fans.
I like it when I'm wrong.

Because the Fans demanded it! Thousands of TRANSFORMERS fans signed petitions urging us to make this book - and IDW listened!

The original Transformers continuity. The original Transformers creative team. Stories that pick up right where we left off and, from what I understand through link-surfing, will likely fold-in even more of the UK concepts. All kicking off with a free first issue. Oh hell yeah.
Come 2012, I'll be reading Transformers comics again. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face with all the cleaning products in the world.
