College is the same way, because you live at school you go if you're up to it, and you have to make it up on your own if you don't. There is no "oh, you missed a day, well, here's what we covered, just have it by tomorrow". Luckily we have office hours.

blood+ is pretty good, watch the movie that came before it called blood: the last vampire. you can watch it on stage6.com, and the movie is in english, for most of it...

Yeah, as mentioned, college is really the same - the professors are unsympathetic about that kind of stuff, so the idea is to make friends in your classes and make THEM give you overview of what you missed. I usually wind up doing that when I need days to practice. Oh, practice... how silly...
