Well, bad news is, it's looking more and more like my computer got hijacked. Himself is up and poking at it, and we're not sure what the fuck is going on with my other hard drive, so the hijacking attempt might have killed it (I really, really, REALLY hope not).

Even worse bad news? I'm pretty sure all my documents have been wiped. All of them. All

Fuck, I am so sorry. I'm not sure which stories some of those are, if the FFVII story is the same one you posted about ages ago or if that one Star Trek Kirk/Spock/Uhura fic you talked about last year(?) was partly written and lost too.

Even if you never intended to post any of it, I'm really sorry.

The FFVII story was an AU that I wrote in like 10 days. 80k in 10 days. It was ridiculous. The story was meh, not very good, but I thought if I put it aside and let it sit, I could go back and poke at it. However, it's gone, too. I still need to check some of my email files, so I may yet still have it somewhere. I had a bunch of start-and-stop fics from the StarTrek:Reboot files that might have gone up someday. Right now I'm just totally bumming about all the notes and files I had for the HP AU fics. I still have book 1 and book 2 in email files, thank the gods, but all my school year time lines, etc, all gone. Bye-bye.

Well, none the less, it's still very distressing for me to lose any of my writing. I know that I'd hate to lose even that HP Mary-Sue fic from over ten years ago. Hell, I get very maudlin and angry when I lose 500 words now.

I wish you luck and a very good memory for rewriting stuff now.

Thanks =) I found a bunch of stuff I'd emailed to myself a year ago, so the old fics, the 80k and 30k one look like they're still around. *dances* I have TRNT and Secrets also in emails, so that's good, all I have to do is transfer them back into documents and break TRNT back into chapters. The third book I was gonna rip out a bunch of stuff anyway, so hey! It all works out!

And I don't know whether that'd work for you, but I keep my fic and outlines etc. on a memory stick. (It's not backuped except where posted, but of course one could do that. I just never did this as a safety option, I just wanted to be able to easily work on the fic on the other computer and not get stuck the moment I want to look up something in another file.)

I have a thumb drive but most of that backs up all the important RL stuff I don't trust on a computer. I'm gonna go down and get a second one for all my fic sometime next week, though, and try to keep it religiously updated.
