Sheraton Deposit

Dec 29, 2010 09:20

Hey everyone,

Just a heads up, the Sheraton is starting to take their 1 night deposit from whatever card that you used to make the reservations. It caught me out of the blue since the reservations where made almost 3 months ago. I hate it when hotels do that.

This also means that they're likely to cancel those rooms where the deposit fails to go through, so room seekers might find this an advantageous time to call the Sheraton.

Refresh my memory. Was the deposit non-refundable?

It should be. My confirmation email says:
If you cancel before 06:00 PM on Monday, 29 August 2011 there will be no forfeit amount.
If you cancel after 06:00 PM on Monday, 29 August 2011 the forfeiture amount will be 189.00.

Thanks. I was pretty sure you could get your money back up to a certain date, but I didn't remember when.

Interesting, they did mine the day I made the reservation.

Same here. The deposit cleared in about 1 day.

I thought they did the same for ours but I double checked our bank statement and they in fact didn't. And also they will refund the deposit they take if you cancel before the specified date.

I had something similar happen with the Hyatt. When I say the LJ update on the 12th about more rooms available in the other towers at the Hyatt I proceeded to change my reservation to the International Tower. In the most embarrasing way I found out they erroneously charged me an additional deposit as I was attempting to pay my power bill. I've already spoken with them and I am supposed to receive a refund in 10 to 14 days. Oh and I also learned my room change/update didn't go through. Needless to say I am not happy.
