Christmas arrived a little early at Ealdercote this year...and it wasn't for me or for ealdthryth! Heh. It's a good thing I had asked her about writ vs. surprise. I'd hate to think what would have happened if we had gone with "surprise the candidate". I suspect Morwenna would have had to fill out paperwork....

I saw the video - I think Brig was hyperventilating. Writ was probably the better idea.

Isn't it a great feeling when the student surpasses the teacher?

Writ? Definitely a good choice. I remember the *other* times she's been called into Court for such surprises. I wasn't too worried about her, though. Morwenna was in the second row, handing her water. Siobhan and Lydia snuck up behind and started fanning Brig with their shawls, and a few sturdy knights were at hand to keep her upright....

I've held the notion that there was little I could teach her that she hadn't already learned on her own. I've given her guidance here and there, but as I kept repeating to her afterwards, this is HER own doing, not mine.

Now if only I can get my other apprentice back on target.... ;^)

I struggled a little bit with how far to take it and draw things out, but I think we hit the right balance. Calling the Knights as her escort was His Majesty's idea, and I'm glad He thought of it.
