Calling All Wardens - Backstories

So.
What makes your Warden different from all the other Wardens out there?
I wanna see back-stories about Wardens. Tell me about a defining moment in their life. Like that time your Brosca got caught stealing in the Commons, or your Mahariel accidentally got left behind when the clan moved on from their campsite. How did events in their past shape them into the person Duncan would eventually recruit?
OP: He Should Have Ducked 1/1

Oh, thank you for this! I've had a real craptastic morning, and this is the first smile I've had all day!
He sounds like a handful, your Falel! How old was he here roughly, pre-teen? I liked that you presented this from Gorim's POV too. I get the feeling Falel's POV would have been not much more than "Not fair, not fair, not fair..." with maybe a bit of "This sucks" for flavor! ;D
I have to wonder if he got punished for picking up a sword, or praised for saving Gorim (and himself). The former would just add to his "not fair" outlook, but praising him would possibly create a monster!

OP, I'm glad that I was able to make your day better, even if slightly! I was actually having one of those days myself until I checked up on this prompt. And other anon, I'm glad my Falel matched your expectations. He's probably my "worst" Warden, if you go by morals.
I would peg Falel as pre-teen or just hitting his teenage years. Maybe there was going to be a special Proving to welcome him into "Dwarf adulthood" in the next few months, which is when he would have raised a sword for the first time... ;) He really is a handful, though. Even as an adult, he's spoiled, conniving, self-pitying, and mocking of his companions... Except for Morrigan (who was romanced by him).
As for the consequences, I would say he was punished, but it was a light punishment for having saved Gorim's life... Maybe scrubbing the chamber pots of the palace for a night? I think that'd be enough of a punishment for my Falel. XD Expect another entry from one of my Wardens in the coming days. I still haven't had enough of this prompt. <3
This Warden's name is pronounced FEAR-ah-mar in my mind, so when the nickname 'Fire' comes up, I pronounce it FEAR-eh. Pronounce it however you'd like, though. This is also the Tabris Warden, not the Surana.A small shock of red hair bobbed in and out of sight of the Alienage's inhabitants. The elves barely spared the elven boy a glance, considering their own problems and their unwillingness to take on any more

Soris' eyes widened. "Firemar, that's breaking and entering and is punishable by the guards on sight! Some of the shem are flogged for that -- we'll get stoned

Hee, this was so cute. I read the whole thing with a grin on my face! I have a thing for cute little urchins getting into scrapes and performing misdemeanors. Have you ever read Feists' Riftwar Saga? I kept picturing Firemar as a "Jimmy-the-Hand"-lite kind of character. (He's my favorite character in the series.) I just wanna give him some candy, then check my purse to make sure he didn't pick my pocket!

I can't say I've heard of that Saga, but I'll definitely look it up if it's recommended. Firemar is my devilish rogue Warden, good with his hands (what, he's good at lockpicking, silly) and always willing to flirt with anything that moves and is beautiful... Therefore, Zevran is his LI, heh XD
In all seriousness, I can picture life in the Alienages being something like this for the braver and more family-oriented children. The elves have the worst lot. I don't doubt some of them have to do immoral things to make sure they and their family survive.

My headcannon for the Alienage is that a lot of the younger elves get involved in "shady dealings", but that as they get older many will stop out of fear of bringing the guards down on their families. It's one thing to get caught and bear the punishment yourself. It's another thing entirely to get caught and have them raid your house and harm your spouse and kids. Plus there's that whole "It won't happen to me" thing that younger generations have to work through. (No offense, younger generations ;D

All Wardens welcome.
