Calling All Wardens - Backstories

So.
What makes your Warden different from all the other Wardens out there?
I wanna see back-stories about Wardens. Tell me about a defining moment in their life. Like that time your Brosca got caught stealing in the Commons, or your Mahariel accidentally got left behind when the clan moved on from their campsite. How did events in their past shape them into the person Duncan would eventually recruit?

Setting down her cup with a decisive clink, she pushed back her chair and stood up. "Deal," she said, smiling in response to his immediate grin. She started to leave and then hesitated, remembering her manners. "If it's all right for me to be excused, mother."
"Of course, child." Eleanor waved towards the door with the hand not holding her tea. "You two go have fun."
Alexia beamed and bobbed her mother an abbreviated curtsey, which felt awkward in her sparring leathers, before grabbing Nate's hand to drag him out of the room. He managed to give Eleanor a polite, grave nod as he was pulled away.
Watching them leave, Eleanor's lips curled into a smile against the rim of her teacup. Perhaps it was time to talk to Bryce about planning for their daughter's dowry. Alexia was still young, but it couldn’t hurt to start thinking about her future. All Eleanor had ever wanted for her children was to see them grow up to be happy.

Thank you, OP, for giving me an invitation to play with some elements from Alexia's past. Also, I'm glad you appreciate the last line; I tried about half a dozen different ways to end the fic before settling on that one

Do you know how much I love "Last Stand"? Probably, as I've gushed about it in the comments there a time or two. Haven't read "Second Chances" yet, something I plan to rectify today. Have you posted the third anywhere yet? I'd be more than happy to give it a read as well.
Feel free to use the promt to add any more "pre-story" you'd like. I love backstories almost as much as I love the stories themselves. Hence the promt. To fully understand where we are, we need to know where we've been!

Whew, that was a fun afternoon! I was in the middle of responding to this when I had a minor electrical fire in my house! But it's all good now, so back to LJ I come.
I did read "Last Goodbye", but was having too many emotions to respond to it at that moment, so I saved the email notice and planed to do it later, aaaaaaannnnnd, I forgot. Sorry. I'll do that tomorrow! Along with read "Second Chances"

As the brother's dagger bit deeper into her tender flesh, Ireth let loose a scream of pain. A hand was quickly clapped over her mouth to quiet her voice. She once again tried to bite the owner of the hand, but she was in too awkward a position to gain any purchase.
'I'm going to die here... At the hands of these blighted shemlen... Elgar'nan strike them a slow death!'A sudden yowl of pain startled Ireth, the hand across her mouth disappearing. A second howl of pain heralded the dagger being ripped from her breast, and she screamed bloody murder, curling into herself

OP apologizes for not responding sooner; RL is kicking my behind. When I saw this was a response to my prompt, I almost squealed out loud!
Thank you so much for this! I have been kicking the idea around for a "shem-hating" elf warden myself for a while now. My one attempt was thwarted when my flawed knowledge of the Male-city elf origin killed my big reason for his shem-hating ways.
I think it's interesting that she went from wanting to know more about humans to not wanting anything to do with them. But I suppose if that were my first meeting with humans, I'd think they could all go to the Void as well. Have you written more of this warden? I'd be interested to see more of her and her story.

No problems on responding sooner. I understand about RL, believe me. Yech.
I'm sure I could have put more detail into how she was curious, and then grew to hate shemlen, but it was just a drabble that I wrote out as soon as I saw the prompt.
It really upsets me that Origins doesn't have the "rival" option that Dragon Age 2 does. If you get your party members, save for Morrigan and Alistair, all the way in the negative, they'll leave you. Hence writing!
I haven't written too much with Ireth, due to the fact I haven't finished her run-through on Origins, but I vaguely know of what I want her to do, so if you're interested, just tell me what you'd like to see from Ireth, and I'll write it up. :)

Psht, you don't even have to get them all the way negative to get some of them to leave. I found out the hard way that if you defile the ashes, even if you don't take her to Haven, or talk about it later, Wynne somehow finds out, gets preachy, and flounces off. I was like, OK, who told?!!?
You can write whatever you want! I just think there is so much variety in Origins and love seeing what other people come up with. It's great fun! I really like to see how someone's character is different from everyone else's.

I only ever defiled the Ashes to get the achievement, and immediately re-loaded the previous save when I got it. Then again, I haven't gone through with my "I-don't-give-a-shit" Wardens, Ireth for example, and my M!Aeducan. It was pretty close a few times, though, like whenever I sided against the Dalish and Zevran was like "How dare you ask me of the Dalish after you callously slaughtered them?" My F!Brosca was like "...Okay, seriously. Who told you? I didn't recruit you until after that escapade..."
If you don't mind, I might write up a story or more for each of my Wardens, or at least the interesting ones. This prompt keeps calling me back, haha. So you might get more from my Ireth after all.

The common was crowded, as it usually was, with the majority of Orzammar nobility mingling around the merchant stands haggling for a price they expected was worth their time and for the object proffered

(BTW, OP did a happy squeal seeing someone had done a fill!) :D
The righteous indignation of an eleven-year old girl. Ah yes, I know it well.
I like devious Nate. I'm sensing he has a little crush on Alexia.
That last line was so sad. :( I can't help but wonder if something about today led to Nate being sent off to the Free Marches.
Thanks for sharing this story.
