Opening night

Wow. Leaving highschool, I never thought I'd ever have one of those again.

Opening night was awesome. There was a huge, responsive crowd, and there was so much great energy going on. The only flaw I heard at all was at the end of one of the songs where the two singers thought they didn't land on the note quite right, so they adjusted down a quarter- ( Read more... )

XD It's Sondheim's "Follies" - about old broadway biddies being followed by the phantoms of their younger selves as they sing for old time's sake in their old theatre before it is torn down. In brief.

We did a concert version, which has the pit up on stage functioning both as the atmospheric song music and as the actual "pit" for the old girls' performances as they sing their old hits. (good thing too, because I hear that the pit in the wisc. union theatre is super tiny!)

Apparently it was suggested that your harp's sound board be covered in gaff (?) tape because it's so light-colored.

I told Alan you'd probably castrate him if he tried.

Love ya. Break a leg for the rest of the run. <3

Oh man! They should have told me about that... I didn't mean for the soundboard to be such a beacon! As long as the tape came off easily, I wouldn't mind covering it...

In a few more years the wood will darken to more of a dark honey color, then it won't be so bright, haha.

Sounds like a wonderful experience-you need a few of those to keep you inspired to go ever further.
As for your soundboard-remember those slinky little harp outfits at the harp studio?
Maybe there is a harp outfit for covering the soundboard so it is more subtle, tho I can't imagine there would be many times when you would want to cover it up-certainly not for your adoring fans who think the entire show is about YOU anyway!
