Cimorene is sitting beside the lake. She feels a bit guilty - she should be weeding the beans. But then, she should also be visiting Gareth. She should have slept more. But right now, she is watching the water and running a small, blue rubber ball through her fingers

Zjendjan hasn't been given any actual duties yet and is poking about the mansion's grounds in the meanwhile. He doesn't notice Cimorene at first seeing as how he's busy trying to get his boots off so he can wade.

"Nothing like pride and lack of sense in combination."

[zjendjan]

"Oh, he had sense. He just had morals and rules too. They get in the way."

[dragon_dealer]

"In love with propriety?"

[zjendjan]

"The whole world is. But clever simpletons know how to get around it."

[dragon_dealer]

"Why get around it when you can just ignore it?"

[zjendjan]

"I'd lose my position."

[dragon_dealer]

She considers this. "Is it worth it, then?"

[zjendjan]

"My position? Or getting around things?"

[dragon_dealer]

"The position." A wry grin. "I don't have to ask if getting around propriety is worth it."

[zjendjan]

Zjendjan thinks and actually looks serious for a moment. "It is my life and I want to do the best that I can at it."

[dragon_dealer]

She considers this for a moment. "Alright."

[zjendjan]

He smiles a little sheepishly. "It's hard to explain sometimes."

[dragon_dealer]

"No...it's okay. It's just good to know you think about why you do what you do, rather than just doing it haphazardly."

[zjendjan]

"I probably think about it too much."

[dragon_dealer]

She smiles. "Thinking too much is a fault I wish more men would share."
