Malcome Hawke's story started as a child in the Circle, before that it is unknown. He was naturally talented until he learnt to hide it. He met Leandra, they fell in love and they got pregnant. With the help of a friendly Templar, some wardens and [WEIRDNCLE].
It goes down with the details of how they escapes, and pass off all the conflicting stories about Malcome's history about being a pirate and a mercenary as just being gossip.
There are short bits about The Hawke twins, but nothing really new. And Quentin (the dickhead who killed Leandra) for some reason. Most of the new interesting details come from Gamlen, his history and interaction with Charade's mother. The book goes a long way to make him blatantly more likeable.
When I divided the book into weekly sections, I did it based on number of pages, not if there was anything interesting or not. I'm starting to think that was a mistake.
I always liked Gamlen. He never went out of his way to hide how crappy his parents made him feel or that he was always looking out for number 1 and nobody else. I love a grumpy curmudgeon of a character. And Gamlen gave zero fucks what anyone thought of him
( ... )
The thing is, according to this chapter he didn't even gamble the estate away! A different relation got in deep dept with some villians, and then past away. Gamlen was the only relation left around, so they forced him to sell them the estate. It really wasn't his fault!
