Kittens?

Oct 10, 2013 14:51

Somebody in their infinite effing wisdom decided it would be appropriate to drop a box of kittens in our parking lot today over lunch. So now I have 3 sorry looking little things with diarrhea, upper respiratory infections, and only a rough guess of age. Bold move, ditching them during the day instead of early morning before anybody's here. I guess ( Read more... )

I'm ever so sorry the world is full of dicks. And I'm also sorry you seem to have to deal with so many of them.

So. Tell us something awesome about your life and job ATM?

Awesome about my life: Bruce
Awesome about my job: This afternoon I get to see a puppy for vaccines. Said puppy belonged to a kid who was not taking care of him, and a set of fabulous guys took the puppy away from him, brought him to the clinic, dropped several hundred dollars treating him for parvo, complained that we don't charge ENOUGH so they got a gift card from a local restaurant for the other doctor and me (we split the case care), and are just generally sweeter than can be believed.

Yay for awesome partners! And yay for people who see themselves as guardians, and not as owners...

Indeed - if it weren't for an awesome partner, I'd probably not eat anything remotely healthy and nothing resembling housework would have been done for months (except desperation laundry). And if not for awesome clients, I'd have burnt out and quit over the shitty ones ages ago.

Last week we had a box of (thankfully healthy) kittens dropped at the sign at the bottom of the driveway during the day. Employee left to go run an errand and saw the box. This week we had a kitten (not so healthy) in a box at the front door during business hours. Volunteer was leaving, saw the box and brought it in. And we ARE a shelter! Dick people are dicks.

For craps' sake. You're already THERE, just walk through the door and be upfront about it! I don't understand why responsibility is such a hard concept for some people.

I can tell you that one. Most people believe the world doesn't care for them, to care back would mean to bleed out. It may be hard to understand for you, but most people have so little hope and happiness inside them that they think they cannot afford to share it, but that they have to keep it locked up inside the darkness of their hearts, surrounded by hardness and anger and self-rightousness.

Most people have been taught by other people suffering from the same ailment, that to give means to be robbed. They never learned that to give means to grow more than you gave, that to open your doors means to grow rich...

It's really very sad.

... and they are dicks, of course.
