[Madam Pomfrey is there of course, not an instant after his eyes open and Edward is pushing himself upward. A firm hand comes to his shoulder to ease him back down.]
I'll have none of that Mr. Elric. You will lie back down this instant! We were certain the Demtentors had their way with you. Now lie still so I can have a look, and do not argue. You've been in my care and this bed for over a month, a few more moments of rest will not kill you.
[The stern look remains as she pulls out a thermometer from her white linen smock and sets it between the boy's lip.]
[ An annoyed growl escapes him at first and he struggles against the firm hand. But any further protest is prevented as a thermometer is shoved between his lips. Going crossed for a second, he tries to shake off Pomfrey's hand, then glares up at her. He doesn't have time for this! He's fine! Or, he wants to say so, but can't with the thermometer in his mouth. And he still wants to know where his brother is. ]
[She warns. Quite used to her patients struggling against her wishes her hold remains. Two minutes pass and the thermometer is plucked from Edward's lips and inspected. No fever and thanks to magical remedies, Edward will find that he has not lost any weight, nor are his limbs and muscles difficult to move.]
Now then, that wasn't so hard. Was it?
[Her question is asked in a much more calm tone, but Edward will soon discover that she's not letting him get up any time soon.]
I'll alert the headmaster that you've woken finally, as well as your professors. However, you won't be returning to class until the day after tomorrow. I need to run a few tests, make sure you're well enough.
[Though given his knee jerk reaction to get up and leave as most students tried to do, students were so predictable, she assumed he was just fine.]
[ Still scowling, because if there's nothing he hates more, it's being fidgeted over. Worse still, he'll have to miss yet another day of school, and he's already so far behind (if his assumptions are correct). But at least he can speak again and everything else can wait. ]
