I have the highest respect for veterans. SwR served 12 years in the Navy. I can't remember how many years my first husband served before his knees were shattered in an accident. My grandfather and his 3 brothers served in World War II.

I am considered a military veteran

So I've got to ask, because I can never remember -- what branch of the military did you serve in, and for how many years?

It was Army for a few months (medical discharge). I don't consider myself a veteran, but the Veteran's Administration does.

I had one grandfather, a civilian, killed in a Nazi bombing raid over Manchester England. My other grandfather was gassed in the trenches of World War I and died years later as a result. My oldest uncle was at Pearl Harbor and went on to serve in the forerunner to the Navy Seals for the duration of the war. My father volunteered to serve in World War II upon turning 18 and served for the duration. My youngest uncle flew 209 missions as a B52 pilot in Southeast Asia and later served in the Strategic Air Command. In England my mother, an only child, had first cousins serve in The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and British Army. I have personally sat opposite one of my relatives as he described ‘fighting that war for five years without shedding a tear’ until the day he and his men liberated the concentration camp Bergin Belson. He told me, “We didn’t know what to do besides cry and bury the bodies ( ... )

I'll make it real simple for you. Read what I post ("I am considered a military veteran"), not what you want to read into it. I never fucking said I considered myself a veteran.

In your post you stated that you are considered a military veteran and then in your comments stated otherwise. That is splitting hairs and being deceptive.
