Maybe in the wizarding world marriage is not about having children and settling down - maybe it's primarily about merging magic, or financial assets. Maybe multiple marriages can actually be a magical career. (In this case, an appearance by Mrs Zabini would be nice.)

During the years, it is becoming painfully clear to everyone that Harry Potter must be his mate the way Draco reacts whenever the Golden Boy is around, is just too obvious (Draco's involuntary mating behaviour is author's choice, but I'd love for Draco to use the Allure and otherwise giving signals - of jealousy, protectiveness, arousal - revealing his attraction, even against his will). But Draco still nurtures a huge grudge against Harry. Harry, who feels the mating call and is slowly falling for Draco, is repeatedly hurt by Draco's brusque refusals to even go out for a drink with him. Nobody knows that Draco is secretly developing a potion to suppress his Veela attraction to Harry. Shortly before his 28th birthday he marries Astoria, thinking himself safe because he's been taking the potion for a couple of months. He collapses when the marriage is about to be consummated and is brought to St Mungo's, closer to death than life. There is nothing the healers can do. Only Draco's true mate can save his life.

Special Request(s): I want this to be about Draco liking Harry's personality FIRST, which then allows him to notice and be attracted to Harry's looks (because let's face it, Harry is a stud!). Angst, a snarky and outgoing Draco, and a slow build-up please--Draco is really resisting it, but eventually comes around. He hurts Harry a few times but makes it all better in the end :)
