Apple, cherry, pumpkin... There are so many kinds. The word makes me think of Thanksgiving, of family and togetherness. A dinner of plump, juicy turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, topped off by delicious fruit in a delicate, flaky crust.

Flour sprinkles the kitchen counter as the little girl tries to pour it intp the bowl. Her mother adds eggs, vanilla, and sugar, then hands the girl a wooden spoon. "Time to stir it, sweetie."
