"What is this?" Edgeworth demanded, staring at the small paper package. The wrapping was a muted blue-green.
"A present," Phoenix sighed, arms crossed. "Pearl helped me pick it out."
"The little girl? Wright, I don’t play with dolls."
"It’s fancy tea," Phoenix said. "It’s supposed to taste like the ocean. I don’t know what that means, it’s all the same to me, but I thought that you’d --"
Later that evening, with two cups steaming on the side table and Edgeworth’s tongue in his mouth, Phoenix reflected that if the ocean tasted half as delicious, he’d have to go someday.

For a year in college she had studied this city as a self-imposed exercise; she knows it, now, intimately. And it is not a real city, after all, so Cobb can't complain.
But she had overlooked one possibility.

fandom: Hikaru no Go pairing: Touya/Shindou
After weeks of visiting countless car dealerships and asking more questions than the salesmen can answer, Touya finally decides on a simple, nondescript sedan well below what he can afford.
(He only needs to get from point A to point B, he explains -- point A being home and point B being the Go Institute.)
"Does it come in red?" he asks.
Shindou looks surprised. "You like red?"
"You like red," Touya replies.
"But it's your car--" Shindou protests.
"Yes, so I'm choosing red," Touya says calmly.
Shindou grins, while the salesman looks faintly embarrassed. "Red it is, then."

Of Hester Gray:
"She died with a scattering of roses upon her, and the face of her love bidding farewell."
"That sounds as though it would be awful prickly," Davy says, doubtfully.
Paul's laugh is golden, like pumpkin preserves.
"When I die, cast me into the sea, that the stones may be my roses," he says. "And when you die I will see you interred in earth to help the next generation of green things grow."
"Don't be silly. We're both going to Heaven anyhow."
Paul's smile pricks, like a rose. "Only one," he says.
“This is limbo,” Cobb says decisively. Then, his voice tainted with doubt, “This must be limbo.”
“Dreams mirror the best of reality,” Borges replies with a nod of his head. No one tells him that Cobb did not ask a question - or that Borges, in turn, did not provide an answer.
“I don’t understand,” Ariadne frowns. “We’ve been stuck here forever. I know this is a dream. So why can’t we leave?”
Borge looks at her, surprised. “This is a dream,” he says slowly, echoing her words as closely as dreams echo the subconscious. “There’s never a way out of the labyrinth.”
