Of Rain and Parking Nazis

If you live in the southeast, you are like feeling the effects of Tropical Storm Ida. For Northern Georgia, this means another 3 to 5+ inches of rain during a likely record settling Autumn (and year). Flood watches and warnings (surprise!) have been posted yet again for the region. Blah.

The Inept Parking NaziToday's commute was rather soggy, but ( Read more... )

I'm pretty good at it, but then I'm in England and drive a tiny car (VW Lupo), so parallel parking is easier.

'scuse my one-upsmanship, but my "other" is because I don't drive, I ride. My motorcycle, my mega-scooter, and my baby scooter all fit in a teeny wedge of a space no car could use, not even the Peel P-50 ( ... )

No need for one-upmanship, as I didn't tick 'other ( ... )

Why aren't you living YOUR life to suit MY needs?

Jeesh.

For the record, I have managed to live my entire driving life (20 years or so) in locations where I don't have to parallel park. If I ever go somewhere where it is required, I am so very, very screwed.

Yeah, no kidding. It is as there was some perfect code of parking ethics out there - and made to suit *his needs*.

I've been driving +30 years and this was the first time someone lectured me on how they were to park for them.

If there is a next time, I won't be such a nice guy. I'll promptly tell the twerp where to stick it.

I have a small car, and I live near a city where parallel parking is usually the only option for on-street parking (Washington, D.C.). I can squeeze my Beetle into almost any space. :)

I can if I HAVE to, and if the space is large. Otherwise, pretty much not.

Both the men I drive with regularly can park pretty much _anywhere_, though. So that's handy.

I have mad driving skills. If it can be legally operated on the street, I have (or have had) a license to drive it. Besides classes for driver's ed, I have also taken defensive driving classes, over-the-road truck driving classes, police-style offensive/defensive/evasive/pursuit driving classes, and motorcycle driving classes. All in the name of getting better at doing something most people think they master before they ever get their license.

So, yes, I can parallel park.
