MCA #4 - Halloween Bash - Sunday Evening.

Oct 29, 2006 11:09

As day began to give itself over to night, the door to #4 Mauvaise Chance Apartments stood open and inviting. The door frame had been decked out with faux pillars with the words Casino Hallow’s Eve over the top. Light music and the sound of voices could be heard pouring out the door, letting people know they were in the right place ( Read more... )

The Kitchen dr_jwilsonmd October 29 2006, 16:16:06 UTC
Starting in the kitchen -because every knows the party always starts in the kitchen- people find that Wilson had set up the drink station in here. There were two kegs dominating the floor space in their ice buckets. One filled with a very nice Original Sin Hard Cider and the other Spatan Oktoberfest lager beer. As with the roof the taps are angelically rigged so that under aged guest did not the get the hard stuff, unless they managed to bribe the angel and without the doctor knowing.

On the counter were a couple of crock pots filled with Mulled Pom-Apple Cider for anyone who would like a warm drink and there were also bowls of punch and then a cooler filled with water and sodas. There were plenty of cups, probably enough to ring Fandom island twice!

[ooc: Do feel free to try to bribe Phale. He tends to think the whole idea of legal drinking age to be a bit silly on the whole. ;)]

Rosette had been looking forward to the Halloween party all week, especially since she really needed to stop this whole silly thinking thing she had going on. Plus, her cowgirl costume was so much fun, and probably wholly inappropriate, but she didn't care. She had cool boots and an awesome hat. She went straight for the kitchen, because where else would you start if not for the free food and drinks? She also went straight for a hard cider, always being one for irony, although wishing momentarily with a brand like Original Sin, she'd gone with the devil costume after all. And then she remembered her boots, and we pleased again.

Chrono, following behind with a blushing grin over his angel costume, opted for just a cup of punch. He had to admit, he was growing attached to the little wire and tinsel confection of a halo Rosette had made for him, although he wished he could have convinced her to put together a costume that was a little...you know, bad ass ( ... )

Wilson came in to exchange his coffee for a beer and he smiled as he saw two people he hadn't met yet.

"Good evening!" Wilson said cheerfully. "Welcome to the party."

"Thank you!" Rosette smiled broadly as Chrono politely nodded his purple-haired head. He didn't even think as to how many people might think it was part of his costume. "It's a very nice party so far, and I've just gotten to this point, but hey!" She lifted her cup with a wink. "Not a bad way to start!"

The Food! dr_jwilsonmd October 29 2006, 16:22:20 UTC
As folks come out of the kitchen, to their right is the 'good stuff' the food! Set up in the back hallways that were lit with a spooky red lighting scheme, Wilson and Phale had set up the tables of food. At the head of the table were paper plates with matching napkins, forks and other utensils and then two long tables filled with food. Yes, in fact Wilson had been up most of the night cooking but he’d been unable to sleep after the events in the clinic the night before. Their Halloween guest, reaped the benefit of the young doctor’s insomnia.

The Menu

Spider's Nest Dip. With various chips and even pita crisps.
Smoked or Poached Salmon Mousse with Dill Sauce. Because it’s one of the angel’s favorites. Likewise there were crackers and home made pita crisps with this one.
Apple fritters. To be seasonal.
Spicy deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are a must!
Deviled ham dip. Chips, crackers and pita crisps for this one!
Deviled Short Ribs.
Bat sandwiches. Yes, he’d been anal about making sure they looked like bats durn it!
Hot Buffalo ... )

The Living Room - Dinning Room dr_jwilsonmd October 29 2006, 16:28:49 UTC
The main body of the apartment, the open living room and dinning room were done in a more normal shade of lightening. It was not overly bright here but warm and inviting as lamps hung from the ceiling over top various casino games. People had a choice of Roulete, Caribbean Poker, Craps, or Black Jack.

People could pick up a tray of, chocolate casino chips just inside the door for their playing pleasure. They would also find each set of tables manned by these creepy fellows. The figures remained motionless until someone came up to play then a bit of the 'angel’s miracle work' brought them to life to spin the roulette wheel, deal the cards or rake the dice.

[ooc: And by 'come to life' we mean really life like. They don't speak, which might be even creepier.]

Parker picked up some casino chips, and went straight to the roulette table. "Black 27."

The dealer, who seemed to be just your simple inanimate Halloween decoration, smoothly came to life.

It said nothing at all but reached for the marble with bony fingers and set it to spinning on the little wheel. In short order, the marbled bumped and bounced into place...

Black, 27.

The dealer grinned at Parker...well, being a skull it was always grinning so perhaps it was simply looking at her to see if she placed another bet.

Parker chortled gleefully, and folded her arms. "Let it ride."

The Study dr_jwilsonmd October 29 2006, 16:30:19 UTC
As the living room and dinning room had been set up mostly for the games and general mingling, Phale had done some work in the study securing the tall bookcases that dominated three full walls. On the forth wall the angel had somehow set up a fireplace, best not to ask, and it burned cheerfully, casting a warm glow across the leather sofas and arm chairs that were now in around the room for people to come, sit, talk, snark on costumes or just enjoy each other's company for a bit.

The room… might seem a little larger than could be possible or maybe that’s just the Halloween spirit getting the better of you.

Parker went over to stand by the fire, because the Diana outfit? Tiiiny bit chilly. She stretched out her arms to the blaze and yawned a little, the heat making her drowsy.

Isabel was torn between hiding from Parker or running to find her to tell her who she'd run into in the kitchen. Wandering from room to room, she stopped in the doorway of the library when she saw her. "Hey."

The Balcony dr_jwilsonmd October 29 2006, 16:33:31 UTC
The balcony doors are unlocked, but not open as that would be a bit chilly! Still if people need some fresh air or want to go up to Abby's apartment or on up to The Roof they have access to do so.

Remember, you can also get to Aly's apartment from Abby's apartment, if you're brave enough for the haunted house!

Parker leaned on the ledge of the balcony, getting cooled off, and played with her bow. She could probably shoot something from here. Hmm. If Miho were around, she would be in so much trouble....

Unable to resist, she still shot one of her blunt-tipped arrows off the balcony, then laughed very quietly. "Fear me, squirrels."

Wilson was doing a round of checking on everyone and happened to peek his head out when he saw a figure out there.

"Squirrels?"

Parker turned around, and leaned back against the balustrade. "Hey. You know, the ones that report to the Radio?"
