More semi-travel-related questions

Packing up meds and toiletries has turned into cleaning out the bathroom cupboard. I am tempted to purge all the crap I haven't used since I relegated it to the wastelands of the closet. What I am wondering, Flist, is what do I do with half-full products? On the one hand, it seems bad to dump them all down the drain (we're talking gobs of shampoo ( Read more... )

I am in no way great about the environment, but if it were me I'd toss 'em in the trash. That seems safer for the fishes/environment, but I could easily be proven wrong by someone with actual knowledge!

I would trash the personal care products -- in a landfill they'll be less likely to escape and over-shampoo the fish.

Things like Deet bug spray are worse. This Saturday is a Household Hazardous Waste Day for Somerville and I thought that would be the solution (we'll be going), but maybe not:

Accepted material at HHW days: paints, thinners, cleaners, motor oil, antifreeze, mercury thermometers, car batteries., compact
fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and rechargeable batteries.

Blah. Unless the bottle has a good idea on how to dispose of the stuff, I don't see a better option than the trash.
