I recently read these results from a survey that Archaeology magazine published (hey, it's good reading):

49% of Americans do not think that humans evolved over the course of millions of years

51% of Americans think that humans and dinosaurs co-existed

1. Product of religious dogma.
2. Product of poor education and bad sci-fi movies.
3. Latin is confusing.

It's pretty eye opening dating Katie. She's hella smart. Probably smarter than you and I put together. But she knows nothing about things that you and I would consider universal knowledge. Especially when it comes to world history ("what prompted World War I?", for example). She went to a private religious school in the South and the emphasis was notably different than the schools either you or I attended.
