I'm not a huge Cora/Robert fan, but I really like this. I think you've caught Cora's pov very well. And I like the ending suggesting there's a little bit of love there.

I don't know how Robert/Cora happened, but I just kept thinking of this idea when I thought of the challenge, so had to get it all out. *snort*

She should be ashamed of herself for even contemplating such a loveless marriage. It's funny, I can hear present-day Cora saying this to her younger self

She wasn’t a fool. She knew Robert only needed two things: money and sons. She could give him one of those things before the ink on the marriage certificate was even dry.
I particularly like this part of it. I think it's the sense of just how quickly her money was whisked away.

I think Cora brought up the girls to be quite modern in a lot of ways, so I assume she was quite modern herself. So the idea that she agreed to the marriage is quite out of character. I know that Robert was a complete ass and pursued her ruthlessly (which he has admitted to), but I also wondered about her being in the UK in the first place. She must have known why her mother took her there. All a little interesting and I hope we see more about it when Shirley Maclaine joins the series.

Unfortunately, she only gave him the money though. The sons thing...
