Recent CD purchases

Madonna: The Confessions Tour CD/DVD--I got this because this way, I can say, "Hey, I saw her during this tour." Plus, I love the whole "let's make disco come back to life" for one night; and I love the disco-ized versions of some of her songs.

I always wondered about Lily Allen. I heard some online buzz about her and wondered somewhat. I'll check her out.

I thought Inside Man was okay, certainly not Lee's best work. That's Malcolm X through and through. He'll never top that movie. That said, there are a lot of enjoyable aspects to the movie, though I wished they could have explained Jodie Foster's role a little bit more (she has not play a more menacingly sexy role in her career, though).

Same with The Constant Gardener. Rachel and Ralph are good (especially Rachel, who deserved that Oscar for making good use of such a sparse role), but the plot seemed so byzantine and the action moved so slowly that I eventually lost patience with the movie.

Have yet to check out Junebug. I alternate between wanting to see it and not.

I really liked Lee's 25th Hour, but you reminded me that I SHOULD see Malcolm X. And, I hear you about Foster's role in Inside Man... but she still rocked!

Of the six movies I've gotten from Netflix so far, Junebug is the disappointment.

I've been meaning to add Inside Man to the netflix list for a while; it looked pretty cool!

You should really join welistalot and list all the music/books/movies you like and dislike - we have a lot of fun over there, but we could use some new friends!!! :o)

Ah, it's actually friends only until you're a member. Not that we're keeping anything secret, but for some reason that's how they started it. It's pretty much a smallish group of friends and friends' friends, with lists & reviews of the music, books, movies, and whatever else ya want to post! :o) Join up!

I haven't seen the Inside Man or Junebug (though Junebug is on my queue). But the Constant Gardener I watched twice because I loved it so much. I'm secretly in love with Ralph Fiennes, and Rachel Weisz is one of my favorite actresses. they were good together, and i thought the story was fantastic. what you said about their love is interesting - I think that he was desperately in love with him, but I can't say she felt as strongly for him. she was selfish in her cause and used him in a way to get what she wanted. it was very sad, but it was powerful and stuck with me for a long time.

I don't know much about those artists under your music purchases. very eclectic!

have a great day!

So I listened to "Smile" by Lily Allen. I like the song a lot! Can't wait to dig into the rest of the album.

I tried to get my mom into it, but she didn't feel it too much. I hope you're enjoying the whole album :)
