Recent CD purchases
Madonna: The Confessions Tour CD/DVD--I got this because this way, I can say, "Hey, I saw her during this tour." Plus, I love the whole "let's make disco come back to life" for one night; and I love the disco-ized versions of some of her songs.
Patty Griffin: Children Running Through--Does this woman ever have a bad songwriting moment? She's truly a literary-songwriter genius!
Lily Allen: Alright, Still--She's probably the only artist that I can tolerate who can pull off hip hop, britpop, and reggae all on the same album. "Smile" is soo much fun.
Sandi Thom: Smile...It Confuses People--I picked this up at a used CD store cuz I had heard one of her songs on MusicChoice-Adult Alternative. Pretty good folky pop.
Mat Kearney: Nothing Left to Lose--I dunno. It was another one I picked up from the used CD store. Plus, his read-singing is kinda catchy. Plus, he reminds me of John Mayer just cuz he opened for him the last time I saw him.
Delerium: Nuages du Monde--I like the operatic voices over the electronic sounds. There really hasn't been a Delerium CD that I haven't liked. And... I found this one used too! :)
Recent movies watched
Inside Man--Clive Owen and Denzel Washington are just awesome! Spike Lee has definitely improved, IMHO, since his Jungle Fever days.
Junebug--Awww, come on, Ben! I thought with an indie flick you'd actually show more of an acting range than Ryan, but no luck. This one was kinda annoying because of lack of any believable characters or any character development. The best thing about this is probably seeing Alessandro Nivola's ass, but if memory serves... this isn't a new thing for him.
The Constant Gardener--I don't know why I heard so much mixed feelings about this. I actually enjoyed this, at least for the investigation and political aspects. I'm not quite convinced that Rachel Weisz's and Ralph Fiennes' characters were really in love, but I guess part of the appeal is that his character is never really sure about her love for him either.
Anyway... your thoughts?
