I brought this over here because this is more Cam-centric and I didn't want a debate on my other LJ.
Topic of conversation:
"If an RST was putting together a primer on how to get involved in plot and steal the keys to the plot bus, what suggestions would you make for it?"
Go.

Be active, dont just stand around... if something looks suspicious and you want to follow it, go do it... listen in on people, make sure people know what your strong points are, what your PC is good for.
Follow any and all leads that are there, one of them is bound to pay off.
Build a PC with some useful skill, be it money, bribery, ass whoopery... whatever...
On a personal note... If some draft were actually to get made, I'd love to see it.. There are so many people over here who complain about not getting into plot and yet there is rampant plot.

as for the post I agree with the above. I have seen people litterally steal the plot. Just step right in and take over.

Concentrate more on what gets you involved in plot that "what my character would do": If your PC's modus operandi doesn't get you any plot, then you need to change gears and do something else. It's that simple.
RP with someone new: You never know when someone you haven't RPed with before might have a lead on some plot, and you could score an invitation to help with it.
Ask the ST: Sometimes, you just can't find any other way, and you need to ask directly. Be clear and concise; state what sort of plot you'd like to be involved in, and be prepared to be flexible. Be willing to strain your suspension of disbelief. It's far better to briefly test the bounds of believability and get involved in plot, than to not do so and be left in the cold.
Ask other PCs/players: Divest yourself of the notion that you'd be ( ... )
