[For Cyd] Let's take the time to walk together while we have the sun.

There honestly wasn't much for George to adjust to these days; it'd only taken a month for him to get used to everything, crazy magic and all, and he had something of a routine down by now. He didn't have rounds, but he still headed to the compound at the same time every morning for breakfast, barring hangovers, ill-advised (but great) one night ( Read more... )

I usually eat breakfast in my room. I had a late start today, though, so I knew any hopes of being up early to beat the crowds are dashed. I take my time because of that, even going to get washed up beforehand thinking maybe I'll get the tail end of the line.

I don't even notice I'm about to walk into George until I do it. I was only distracted for a fraction of a second, but it was apparently enough. It's instinct that makes me grab for the shoulder in front of me to keep me steady. I look up to see who it is I just bumped into. I only realize after I end up staring at him for a long moment that I'm doing it.

"N-no," I reply, my cheeks reddening quickly. I still can't believe someone so good looking talks to me on a regular basis. Here I am, always embarrassing myself in front of him, too. "No, it's okay. Hi. Um, I mean, good morning."

I still haven't let go of his shoulder.

Passing through the door to the outside, I can't help but notice a nice sunny patch peeking through the trees a little ways down the path where we can sit and eat without being in the way. It seems like a good idea. "Why don't we go over there?"

"It's perfect," George replied, though Cyd could have asked him to climb to the top of the mountain to sit in a clearing in the hot sun and he would have been happy to. "Do you want to maybe watch a movie later? I've got a couple saved up."

Which he'd been saving to share with Izzie in an attempt to cheer her up, but George was sure she would understand.

"I love movies," I say, even though honestly, I haven't seen too many. But seeing movies with him would be a lot of fun. I bet he has great taste in them. Settling down into a seat, I ask, "What kind of movies do you have?"

"I have all three Star Wars -- the original trilogy," he replied, settling down as close to Cyd as he could manage without coming across as overeager or creepy. "I kind of try to save the good stuff when I find it."

This is what I like about George. I do like fantasy a little more than science fiction, but at least he's not making me watch something bad. Not that I wouldn't watch anything he suggested. I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to even concentrate on it anyway.

"I think I've only seen one of them, so that's a great idea," I nod, pausing to eat. I think if I don't take a few bites any time I think about it, I'll just forget about it entirely. "Are you a fan?"

George's eyes widened at Cyd's admission. He wasn't sure he'd ever heard of someone who'd never seen all three Star Wars movies. "You haven't-- only one? Really? Everyone's a fan of Star Wars, it's practically passed down by blood now. Okay, we're definitely fixing this tonight."

"My parents were pretty against TV," I explain, always kind of embarrassed about this. I really missed out on a lot when I was younger. It's things like this that remind me. "Something about distracting me from my full potential or...something. I don't know. Anyway, this will be great, then. I'm looking forward to it."
