This morning at the crack of 10:30, I got a call back from one of the places I applied to, for a medical receptionist position in a dental office. The guy asked me if I could come in for an interview this evening and I said sure, because my schedule is obviously as wide open as a cheap hooker's legs right now. He then called me back a few minutes ( Read more... )

Nope. I'm on (possibly permanent) hiatus.

It's clear to me that I have been reading a lot of Vonnegut -- haha. before i got to that sentence, i though, whoa, sarah HAS been reading vonnegut. ;) but i'm with you re: 9/11; for me it's another day, perhaps one in which i look at the world with more sadness and irritation and bitterness than usual, but another day. (and. reading that paragraph makes me think you should read 'ishmael' by daniel quinn -- an excellent social and global commentary disguised as a novel, with some eye-opening viewpoints. it makes you wonder why certain things that are normal are considered normal in the first place ( ... )

Hehe, no, don't feel bad. I never really mentioned it. I'm taking a break, I guess. As of now I have no plans to go back, but you never know what might happen.

Thanks for ze book recommendation. You and I have very similar tastes so I'll definitely check it out.

Oh, and I agree re: the job situation. I don't ever expect to find a "dream job" (writing on the side will have to do eventually :)), but word, it doesn't make sense to make yourself miserable either. I'm shooting for somewhere in between.

Ha! you're lucky you don't have to pay rent. then Taco Bell would be looking pretty good (like it was to me for a while :-P)

If you want to borrow any of Tom Robbins books from me, I think I own every last one of them. I like him a lot in case you couldn't tell. But that library thing is a good idea since it's a hell of a lot cheaper than Borders.

I'll be home tommorow night if you want to hang but if you're busy that's cool!

Haha, I know you do! In fact, I remember you telling me once a long time ago that he's an acquired taste, which I can believe because I already like Skinny Legs and All much better than I liked Fierce Invalids at first. My main problem with him is that he uses too many fucking words! For every great phrase, he tacks on three unnecessary ones. But I really like his perspective.

My favorite is Even Cowgirls get the Blues. I would lend it to you, but i think it's in Iraq.

I think he's an awesome writer (I like all the words, they crack me up), but if you actually met him in person he would be a cocky bastard.

Oh, I definitely agree that he's a cocky bastard. That shines right through. ;) His mind works in a really interesting and unique way though, which is what I enjoy about him most. And he does have a really crazy way of putting language together, which I also like even though I think there's way too much of it.

yeah days like these are weird... those days when you should probably feel more than you do. but it just is.

and try to enjoy the time off while you can! i understand the stress and feeling like you should be doing something. but seriously, like four of my friends got laid off this year and it took them months to find something. don't settle for something less than you're worth.

love you.

Thanks g-bug. You're right. How many times can you comfortably enjoy unemployment? Probably just this once.

yeah . . . i started to apply to target, but the second question was 'would you be willing to submit to a drug test? target is a drug-free environment.' and i said "escape, escape, escape from the online application."

how stupid anyway. i mean, target is cool, but it's target. and pot, at least, should be legal.

Pot should definitely be legal. I mean, come on, ALCOHOL is legal, and that is far more damaging. We oughta follow Canada's lead on this one.

Not to mention that of all employers, Target is not the kind that really needs to be concerned about employees on drugs.

let's move to canada. they have far less gun violence anyway, and people don't even feel the need to lock their doors. i kind of like the idea of that.
