I wanted to write in this because I feel like what I express in facebook and twitter are little bits of things, and tumblr confuses and scares me, so it's best to write things out here

I'm both relieved and frightened that your community college experience over there is the same as mine in ABQ.
In my English 102 class, we had over half the semester devoted (not just a review or anything, but honest-to-God DEDICATED) to punctuation and identifying nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
And your sensei sounds hilarious. XD Keep on keepin' on Emma.
Sadly, I think that this is the case in ALL community colleges. It makes sense because they'll take in anyone, they don't look at your transcript or your written essay.
But as I said before, it's very frustrating. Especially because I would have thought that English 101 would have taught everyone how to write an essay.
