Amy Pond, at any age. All the robots should start running now.

I really liked how the episode made the point she can take care of herself, if she was in that situation, but it may be fortunate she doesn't have to turn herself into a brittle, lonely swordfighter. Amy's always had guts.

Rewatching to get the quote, I teared up. AGAIN. Someday I may be able to look at this episode without tearing up. Today is not that day!

It was a complicated episode, and I loved how they went head-on with the down side of being the Doctor. Amy ripped my heart out, and then Rory ripped my heart out, and then they ripped my heart out together, and I loved every second of it. ♥

Emotional intelligence, yes. Karen Gillan brings out Amy's various kinds of strengths and emotional layers so, so beautifully, and I think the writing was also top-notch in this ep. It was sad but amazing to watch too.

See, I agree with everything you're saying--except that you think it's no longer a kids' show. Kids get some of these things better than adults; I would have been all over this episode as a 9-year-old. :)

I <3 Doctor Who right now.

I felt terrible for her, and for Rory, and for the Doctor. Yet Amy was incredibly strong and proved that should something go badly wrong, she could survive. It's just better not to have to live that way. old!Amy's badassery is in young!Amy already, her resourcefulness and willingness to fight.
