Gah, this is just. Dean is watching Castiel slip closer and closer to the edge and about to go over -- and he's reached out his hand and it's like Castiel won't take it. /o\
While I don''t contest that it comes from a place of love, just like it did with Sam in S4, Dean's way of going about it never is quite the best on account of him always getting hit so hard with the betrayal. Poor boy, doesn't always make him think so straight. Which is understandable.
Then again, he doesn't know the full story we do, since Cas never offered it up to him.
Perhaps the most tragic part about Cas's story is that it all goes back to that one decision not to talk to Dean raking the leaves. Not only if he had talked to Dean, he wouldn't have walked off with Crowley. But if he had, he would have precipitated Dean finding Sam sooner, and realizing how screwed up Sam was sooner. Bad things happen when the boys don't talk!!
One day someone needs to write a meta on SPN, masculinity, the lack of communication that drives lack of understanding, and how it constantly leads to the end of the world. ;)

Yes, oh Dean. Nor has he dealt the best way with Castiel all season, although it took two to make that mess.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS 101! Let's send Dean and Castiel to take a class. Augh, Castiel fits right in.

Oh stoooop stop stop you're going to make me cry again.
My love of this episode is mighty, so soooo much from a moment where a guy is raking leaves in the back yard.
