1. The voice casting for the DCAU stuff is so darned good that you can't ignore it.
2. Judd Winick seems to be coming out of his years-long creative downslide, with this and some recent DCU stuff. The man who did that really good Kyle Rayner comic might be coming back and the buffoon who started the ruin of Ollie Queen might be leaving.
1. Yes, it is, and Andrea Romano seems to have a knack for pulling out extraordinary performances.
2. Hope springs eternal!
I've been rereading some Nightwing backissues. Oh, there was some really good stuff there. There are stories I'll continue to re-read. But it's also reminding me why I'll stick with the animated 'verse, and why I'd rather ignore continuity after maybe early 2006. Maybe the comics are too sprawl-y and inconsistent and playing fast and loose with the characters.
It's not too difficult for me to handwave Under the Red Hood into the Dini-and-Timm'verse, with a little tinkering. That's my story, I'm sticking to it! *G*
But, seriously, when is there going to be a Batgirl/Oracle/Birds of Prey/Barbara Gordon movie? I practically fell out of my seat in glee at the Oracle shout-out. GET ON THAT DCAU!!!
It was a great movie with a great cast and now I want moremoremoremoreMORE. Oh Bats, I'll never get over you.
I WATCHED IT TOODAY. And I loooveed it. Jensen FUCKING Ackles. He did so well, and made me feel Jason's pain. "Why on God's green earth is he still alive?" My. Heart. Broke.
I think Jason was mangled in the comics, but this DTV did a surprising good job of making everything concise and giving it an emotional edge. I really liked those flashbacks to when he was Robin.
