a/n: Written for the halfamoon 2010 Impromptuthon, for latxcvi's prompt, why did Ellie become a doctor?

Summary: Some things she can fix, some things she can't.

( For weeks Ellie lived over and over in her head the moment when he tripped and went sprawling to the sidewalk. )

You know, I adore the idea of Ellie, but I often feel like the show doesn't give her enough to do. But she is marvelous here; affectionate, competent, protective. Just lovely.

Well said. We're given enough to see that she does all the things she balances and juggles, but they aren't exploring it. And if Awesome can be featured, then Ellie can be too.

Oh, protective!Ellie! *loves* I wish we would see more of her in the show (though I haven't watched the beginning of seaon 3 yet...)
