Well, that took long

So far, impala (yes, I named the new macbook impala, shut up, it was almost named TARDIS) has been settling in well. It talks to my wireless network and my printer. I really like the OS X operating system. It's also very lightweight and does seem more intuitive than a PC.

Wow! That was fast. Rock on! \o/

(Mine's named Sammy. Both of our computers love Dean more than anything else, don't they? *g*)

I've been contemplating getting a mac for maybe a year now. I have no idea why this week it became the time to actually DO EEET, except the PC's in my household have all been behaving worse and worse lately...

Up until now I was using an HP laptop. Great features for a low price, 2 years old. Everything on it crashes -- firefox 3, ms word, itunes...I gave up. My poor mom, whose Gateway desktop just died a horrible scary death due to malware while its fan ran so loud it sounded like a jet engine, will get my HP laptop but if this macbook works out, she wants a mac.

PC's used to work better. My first few PCs were solid workhorses.

Hee! My Powerbook is called MetalliMac. *g* And yeah, I feel like I've settled into being a mac user pretty easily. I bought a pc-to-mac transition book and have rarely needed to use it.

I'm a pretty new mac user--just a couple of months, so I'm not sure how much I count. LOL But I just pulled out my book, and it sounds like Automator is a utility that lets you make series of commands into sort of a macro.

We can help each other figure things out. I'll probably be consulting the apple website tutorials.

Yay!! As a Mac service tech I know you will be quite happy with it. :)
FYI - I am old school fangirl and every one of my Macs have been named Ziggy (computer from QL)
why, yes, I am a geek, thanks. :)

My iPod is named Momo, my external HDs are named Appa and Appa 2, and my iPhone is named Mouse (from the old B&B show.) So, its not just a mac thing...well, maybe it is... :D

Congrats btw.

also, you do know there are some good macintosh help communities here on LJ? macosx and macintosh
Welcome to the cult, we are friendly here. :)

Ziggy! \o/

My electronics get named based on my fannish phases, and it tends to rotate. Now that my ipod is named TARDIS, it's so perfect that the macbook is named impala (and I can stage a crossover just by updating my music collection, hee!)
