[Challenge] Challenge # 5: The Start Of Something New

Jun 02, 2008 10:54

(Err, yeah, ehehe. Ignore the really blatant reference to High School Musical, for I couldn't think of a suitable name. ^^;)

To start the month right, let's have another challenge! ^_^ I got the idea for this from team7's Mile Long Pole Challenge. It's really basically the same, only expanded to include original fiction. :) Thank you so much for the idea, Tin-san! ^^

The challenge this time is also pretty simple.

1. Write a story for a series you've never written in before.

To elaborate, for fanfiction, write for a completely new fandom you've never written in before. Say, you've been writing only Yu Yu Hakusho fanfiction for all your life, for the challenge you'll try writing maybe Narnia fanfiction? ^^

For original fiction, this means writing for an original idea that has been in your head for a long time, but had never actually written a story for before. ^_^ This also means that you cannot use characters you've used in previous stories before.

2. Extra credit goes to those who will write for a fandom they never particularly liked, or you're not an enthusiastic member of.

This rule applies only for fanfiction now at this point. For example, if you really never liked, er, Gundam Seed Destiny but think you can write a suitable fic for it, you get extra credit. ^^

3. Extra credit also goes to those who will write for a particular genre they've never written for before.

Say, you've never written a lemon fic before, or maybe a slash/yaoi fic, then you also get extra credit. ^^ Or if this is the first time one of your stories actually ended happily (*cough*) or badly, then that also counts. ^^

* "Extra credit" for now means a special mention and possibly an award you can display on your site, but we were also thinking of an actual reward, like being able to request a gift fic/story of their choice, but we're not sure who'd be willing to write for the fic requests, if ever...any volunteers? Please?

And that's it! ^_^ Comment now to sign up, or to clarify things. The usual word minimum for the comm (500 words) applies, and the challenge is still open to non-members, so pimp away!

Deadline: July 5, 2008.

For members: all pieces submitted as a response to the challenge will be considered part of the June output.

Oh, and I'll be doing the monthly review tomorrow, so you still have today to pass your monthly outputs. So do submit something, okay? :P

moderator, challenge
