William passed Teddy a paper bag, which the green skinned young man took, breathing in to it. “That was a very stupid thing to do,” the witch said bluntly.

“Duh,” Teddy squeeked.

“So why?”

Teddy put the bag down, looking at William’s narrow face. His expression was intent and disapproving, dark eyes glittering and his skin flushed from anger. “Dark Claw will have your head for this.”

“And you like my head where it is?” Teddy teased.

“You are not funny,” William hissed, getting to his feet. “You are frustrating and immature and - and - and you are laughing at me.”

“You’re worried about me, and it’s cute.” Teddy took William’s hands in his own, holding them tight.

“You threw Dark Claw out of the tower. He’s going to kill you.” William continued to scowl and glare, but he didn’t try to shake Teddy off.

Teddy made a face. “I faced down Stopholis for you. You think I’m about to let anyone else take you away?” Teddy pulled William’s hands up to his lips, kissing the knuckles. He watched William blush through his eyelashes.

“The JLA only wanted to make sure I am not dangerous,” William murmured. Teddy wrapped an arm around William’s waist and pulled him close. “And you-”

“You love me,” Teddy said with absolute certainty. “You fought Stopholis for me. And you’re not trying to zap me.” He released William, caressing his cheek. “Also, I want to point out that we beat him. I kept Dark Claw and the JLA from running off with you, I think we deserve to celebrate.”

“Oh?” William shifted his weight, leaning back a little. Teddy ran his thumbs over the line of William’s jaw, watching him. Finally, it was William who leaned in and kissed Teddy hesitantly. The blond kissed him back with considerably more surety, but let William set the pace. He’d fought hard to get that far with William, and he knew better than to push harder. William rested his forehead against Teddy’s, looking lost. “I do not know what I am doing,” he whispered. “This is… a very bad idea.”

“So was throwing Dark Claw out a window. Didn’t stop me.”
