Byron blinked, his mouth hanging open. “What?”
Rowena had already plucked the ring out of his hands, slipping it onto her finger. “I said yes.” She held it close to her face. “Cut glass and brass,” she murmured with a smile.
“It was my grandmother’s, it’s an heirloom -- you’re saying yes now? I’ve asked you eleven times.” He stood up, scratching his head. “You mean it?”
Rowena looked up from the ring. “Yes, Byron Xanathos. I want to marry you. I want to spend my life with you, and only you.” She paused, then amended, “Well, you and our children, of course.”
Byron looked down at the slight swell of Rowena’s belly, mostly hidden by her baggy top. “Is it because-?”
“No. It’s because I love you.” She grinned. “If I didn’t, you’d never see me or this child again.”
“So you’re marrying me?”
“Yes, Byron. Once again, yes.”
Byron threw his head back in a triumphant howl, and Rowena just rolled her eyes.
“We’ve got a wedding to plan,” she pointed out, ever logical.
