“Vic?” Sarah ‘Network’ Vale of Alpha Squadron called out, brushing her short dark hair out of her face as she peered around the faux wilderness. “I know you’re out here.”
A green hand waved from a hollow the cyberpath hadn’t even noticed. She trudged over and looked down at her squad leader. “You’re brooding again,” she accused.
Victor blinked. “Yeah,” he agreed.
Sarah let out a long suffering sigh and sank down into the grass beside him. “Who is he?”
“What makes you think it’s a guy? I could be brooding about any number of things.”
She gave him a Look, and Victor sighed.
“You remember Chamber?”
“British. Wore lots of black. Punched Mr. Worthington in the face and got bounced.”
“Yeah.” Victor stared up at the sky, watching the clouds drift. “It’s just… something doesn’t seem right.”
“Oh yeah? You didn’t see the looks he was giving Mr. Worthington before it went down.”
“Yeah, but…”
“But?”
“It just doesn’t seem right. I wish I knew where he was.”
Sarah contemplated her fearless leader, thinking about her options. “If I track him down for you, will you cease with the brooding?”
“You can do that?” Victor asked, sitting up on his elbows.
“Of course I can,” Sarah said with a sniff. “It’s impossible to go anywhere without leaving records behind, and I can find any record.”
Victor pounced on the dark haired cyberpath, pulling her into a hug. “Sarah, you are the best!”
“Of course I am. Now leggo before you give me cooties.”
