Rubicon crosses back over

Nov 11, 2010 20:13

I've been pleasantly mulling a potential post about my new TV love, AMC's Rubicon. I was bubbling over with things to talk about--the sense of style, the way it looks and sounds, the narrative, the atmosphere. And the characters, of course, especially Kale Ingram, mysterious-emotionally-detached-openly-gay-former-Marine-CIA-guy-who-can-get-a-body- ( Read more... )

Ugh. I'm sorry; I really hate it when that happens too. According to some sources, they did it because The Walking Dead was such a huge ratings success right out of the gate, and they only have so much budget to go around, so they chose that one.

(I'm sorry for watching The Walking Dead, Dorinda.)

It's smushed in there with the rest of the brooding: DAMMIT AMC, WHY DIDJA HAVE TO MAKE ME FEEL CONFLICTED ABOUT THE WALKING DEAD. I'm gonna have to let it pile up on the DVR until my sulk has subsided. Hmf.

Oh, FFS. And if they'd both been huge ratings successes? What, one would've still had to go? *eyeroll*

It makes sense that they picked zombies over a spook show. It's obvious to me that there's already been a stealth zombie apocalypse in certain places, because look at the huge numbers of shitty-ass TV shows and movies being made, and some of last week's election results (zombies can't think, they just mindlessly feed and repeat the same stuff they did in life).

What?WHY? I don't understand that -- everyone's been giving AMC props for all their great programming, and the do mention Rubicon and now Walking Dead... Oh, AMC, I am so disappointed in you!

Sigh. Now I'm going to wait for a while to watch the ending because there won't be more.

*solidarity hugs*

You know, I waited literally for years to watch the final episode of Invisible Man, because that would mean IT WAS OVER (and I've heard that terrio still might not have watched it yet!). Stupid TV execs, I swear. *shakes tiny fist*

I totally feel your pain.

I've always come upon my fandoms already cancelled, so I can't imagine how it must feel to start getting wound up about something and then have it cancelled. And I totally get what you say about the target audience.

and, btw, if you need cheering up, I've got just the ticket:
I just got done beta-ing an I Spy/West Wing crossover. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I'd just been going to e-mail you the rec - you may have seen it on the comm, though. I'm pretty sure it'll cure what ails ya. (Slashiest gen I've seen in a while, but don't tell him I said that.)
