I ordered the necessary parts for my computer, so hopefully I might have it back up at the end of this week, beginning of next at the latest.

Auuugh, I wish you luck. Sorting out hardware problems is so much fun.

Thankfully, assuming I don't botch the installation (which I'm not sure how I CAN, but I can't help but leave room for that error), it's just a matter of changing out the bracket thingy, slathering some more heat goop on my heat sink, and getting the whole shebang strapped onto my proc. Then all should be copacetic again.

But still, RAGE at the fact that I can't get anything locally and have to wait 2-5 days for the part to be shipped from out of state. It's driving me bugnuts to not be able to interact with people since most of my friends are most easily available via interwebs.

(And on a totally different note, Google Chrome does not recognize the word copacetic and instead wants it to be cop acetic. Which is mildly amusing to me.)

There really aren't any good computer hardware stores, are there? I thought Radioshack used to have some harder-to-find parts for all electronics, but they've gone downhill.

Sorry you're cut off from everyone while you wait. The only solution is to steal the computer of a loved one.

(Oddly enough, Firefox's spellcheck doesn't flag copacetic, though drives me nuts by flagging many everyday words.)

There ARE some good hardware stores, I just apparently don't live near them. If I went to DC or Baltimore I might have better luck, but that's a bit unreasonable IMO. :/

And yeah, I'm stealing Mole's comp when I can (like now!) but still, it's frustrating.
