[Alice the Smoochum and Pipe the Magmar (guess who evolved?) are trying out Pokemon accessories on each other as Seven inspects his new Zephyr badge in the mirror.]

These Pokemon ain't so different from us after all. Flash 'em a badge and suddenly they're all obedient. Crowbar's stopped acting up since I got this from the kid back in Violet.

... huh, I've never thought about it that way. Or maybe they meant 'buff' like the verb-- to shine something up?

Like how her eyes are all shiny like rubies and whatnot?

Yeah, like that! Or like the way her fur kind of looks all shiny. It also looks kind of fuzzy, so, maybe the name comes from the way she shines things up.

Hmmm...

[He is now thinking of using Igglybuff as a dishrag.]

Maybe Ham would be useful for work after all.

... It's just a name. They're not always literal descriptions.

It'd make sense if it were a code name and they were going for deceivin' the enemy but it's actually the name of its species. Aren't these things supposed to be accurate or soemthin'?

Doubt they have to be. Crayfish ain't fish despite the name.

They didn't know it wasn't a fish back then.

[Puzzlette is just wandering aroundtaking a look at all the potions and what not, when she catches sight of Seven and decides to just kind of amble on over.]

Ah! Mr. Seven, hello~!

[... no, she did not just catch him complaining about Igglybuff, right? Right? Awkward smiling.]

Hello, Miss Puzzlette! How are you doing today?

[More awkward greetings. Okay Seven, chill.]

[Luckily for Seven, she was too far away and paying too much attention to her shopping to hear him. But she is wondering about that...]

I'm doing wonderfully, thank you~! If I may ask, how is that little egg you were raising?

Yeah, Ham's growin' up to be a pretty lively girl. She keeps singing all the time. Every song she hears, she ends up singin'. Are they really supposed to do that?

Consider yourself lucky. I've got all the badges, and some of mine still won't listen.

[He says that as an Aerodactyl swoops down behind him and lets out a gruesome Gyaaaaaar!

After he punches Terror on the nose, he continues.]

Anyway, you shouldn't expect that Igglybuff to get tough for a while. Its evolved form's just as small.

All of 'em? How long did it take you to get them?

[And wow, that's one bigass rock chicken you got there.]

What's its last evolved form look like?

About a year, give or take a few months.

[And she's still roaring and showing those nasty fangs of hers. Food, foooooood!

And another bap on the nose.]

Wigglytuffs look like oversized, pink rabbits.

Are they at least pink, muscular, tough looking rabbits?

I'm here, but uh...

...Did you seriously buy a Pokémon because you thought it was going to be buff?

[ Not like Junpei's reasons were any better, but... ]

It was free and I wanted one of those fightin' types.

You know you can look them up ahead of time, right? Although I guess I can get the confusion.

You don't name a thing a cube if it's supposed to be a ball.
