"Sam!" Rachel's been practically buzzing around the house all morning, trying to get everything ready for Sam. The guest bedroom had originally been something she and her Dad had decorated, but she'd allowed her Daddy to remodel it with darker, more neutral tones. Something that would be easier for Sam to change to his tastes.

Her Dads were gone now, but they'd left the card for groceries on the kitchen counter so that Sam could stock up on things he'd like to eat.

After prom, Rachel had definitely considered Sam a friend. So there was really no reason her friend should have to go pay to stay in a hotel when he was coming back to Lima at her request and she had an empty bedroom.

Swinging the door open, she throws her arms around his neck before stepping back to let him inside. "Come in, come in! Is that all of your stuff?"

"I don't see why not." Rachel shrugs. It's not like she's got a date or anything to really do after she does her homework anymore. And with it nearing the Christmas season, both of her dads are working overtime to keep up with the huge influx of business on both of their ends. So they're no help staying entertained.

"We don't have to watch a musical if you don't want to." She's so used to Finn saying he didn't mind and then catching him on his phone halfway through.

And it's not like it's a date because they live under the same roof and they're just friends... Besides, he's on a mission to win Mercedes back. He just needs a plan to convince her to choose him over Shane, that's all. He'll figure something out. He's convinced that Mercedes is just playing hard to get...

"No, I want to. I wouldn't mind actually understanding you and Kurt's musical references..." The amount of times they've made them and received a blank look for Sam is a lot. And he's open-minded enough to give anything a shot.

Of course it's not a date. On the rebound from Finn and NYADA in her future, Rachel doesn't even have time for dates anymore. It's really a waste of her energy. Her time is better spent trying to gather credits and raising her GPA for NYADA than it would be pursuing Sam...who's just her friend anyway.

"Well...alright. We'll start with Repo!: The Genetic Opera. I think it's more up your alley. Something to get you interested before we delve into the classics." She suggests, pulling out of the school parking lot and heading back towards her house.

The word 'opera' gets his attention and he can't help but raise an eyebrow at Rachel. He trusts her judgment though, so if she says he might like it then he'll give it a chance. "Opera, huh? What's it about?"

"It's about a futuristic world where people can get plastic surgery and transplants and such on loans instead of paying up front and if you don't pay your dues, they'll take back the parts they gave you. It gets significantly more complicated, of course, but that's the gist. Alexa Vega is in it. Carmen? From Spy Kids?"

"Awesome," he nods impressively. It really does sound right up alley. "I think I remember her. My brother and sister love those movies..." Now he thinks about it, he has actually seen another musical other than Rocky Horror. Unfortunately it's High School Musical, all damn three of them, thanks to Stacy. "So is there lots of blood and guts and stuff in it? Since they have to take back organs or whatever?" Being a guy, the idea of gore excites him.

"Kinda? You just have to see it, I can't really describe it." She laughs. "We'll do our homework together and order takeout if my Dads aren't home yet. It's been a while since I've seen it, actually, so it'll be nice to catch up." She doesn't live far from McKinley and they're turning onto her street before they know it. "Do you have a lot to do? I know you're catching up..."

"Okay, no more spoilers... The teachers are being lenient with me at the moment since I only just transferred back, so not enough work that I wanna blow my brains out... yet," he jokes, getting out of the car once they're parked outside her house.

"Don't worry, hopefully we can keep it that way." She laughs, heading around to the back seat to pull out her backpack. She takes her books (without dropping them!), sticking them in her bag and heading up to the front door before he can stop her.

"Here's hoping," he laughs back, pouting at her when she takes her books before he has a chance to carry them for her, but at least she didn't drop them this time.

Once they're inside and make a start on their homework, he actually gets through it a lot quicker than he usually does with Rachel's help. She has a way of explaining things that makes complicated equations easier to understand. Back when his parents were looking for jobs, he couldn't bother them for help on his homework and he didn't have time for tutoring because he was too busy delivering pizzas. When they're finally finished, he puts his books away and looks at Rachel gratefully. "Thanks for the help and being patient with me."

"Oh don't give me that, Sam. You're very smart, when you take your time." She leans over, dropping a (purely platonic) kiss on his cheek before crossing the kitchen to grab the phone on the wall. "Chinese or pizza?"

Coming from an all boys school, he's still not that used to girl interaction, at least when it comes to befriending girls, though he's had quite a lot of practice of dating them by now. But the kiss on the cheek takes him slightly by surprise and he blushes a little, but he doesn't read anything to it. Rachel's obviously just the kind of girl who likes giving her friends hugs and kisses on the cheek and stuff like that and there isn't anything wrong with that. It's nice and makes him feel loved... in a platonic way of course. "Pizza?" You'd think after delivering pizzas he'd be sick of the stuff by now, but he still can't get enough of it. "I don't mind what toppings."

Yeah, Rachel's totally that kind of person. Crazy affectionate. She nods, picking up the phone and ordering two pizzas (one for Sam, with everything, and a vegan one for herself) before hanging up and heading back over to the table. "So. Should we wait for the pizza before we start the movie or do you just wanna go ahead and get started?"

"Do you wanna get started now? We can always pause the movie when the delivery guy comes," Sam suggests. Besides, it'll give them something to do whilst they wait for their food.

"Sounds good to me." She shrugs. "C'mon, let's go in the basement. The tv down there has surround sound." Grabbing some sodas out of the fridge, she nods towards the basement door before she heads down.
